4.14.1 Swipes
One key piece of data that was retrieved in 2019 was dining hall swipes. Research at other universities shows that students who enter the cafeteria with other students are more likely to be socially engaged and thus have better outcomes on campus.21 Additionally, other studies have shown that as long as students have established pattern in their routine, then they are more likely to be retained (e.g. if I eat lunch everyday between 11-12 then more likely I have a routine and have adjusted to college life than someone who is erratic in their habits). This has not been fully explored yet, but there is a great opportunity to explore this as a means of early warnings for disengaged students.
