The Organization of Latin American
		Students at Wake Forest University

This year we began Hispanic Heritage Month with a celebratory kickoff dinner at Mi Pueblo Mexican Restaurant. On October 4th, we hosted a concert on the quad with a local salsa band, West End Mambo. On October 5th, we hosted a lecture by Professor Roniger and Professor Siavelis on current Latin American issues. We also are co-hosting the VISIONS and MOSAIC mixers, which are events for prospective minority students. Next semester we plan to send our organization to the Annual Latino Issues Forum and co-host International Flair Night.

In the past, OLAS has brought ethnic bands Drum Jungle and West End Mambo to play on campus and served traditional Latino cuisine at the events. OLAS has also hosted a lecture by Sandra Guzman, who spoke about stereotypes that Latinos face and her experience as a Latina in the workplace. Last spring OLAS participated in organizing International Flair Night.
