Mission Statement

The Southeastern Commission for the Study of Religion promotes the scholarly study and teaching of religion in the Southeast and the professional development of members of its sponsoring and affiliate societies in the Southeast: The American Academy of Religion (AAR/SE), the Society of Biblical Literature (SBL/SE), and the American Schools of Oriental Research (ASOR/SE). With an Executive Board comprised of representatives from these societies, SECSOR carries out its mission through sponsoring a joint Annual Meeting of the societies and other activities.
