Chi Psi a National Fraternity On May 20, 1841 ten men created the Chi Psi fraternity at Union College in Schenectady, NY. The group was the first greek letter organization to be founded upon the fraternal and social principles of brotherhood. All seven organizations that preceded Chi Psi we founded as literary societies. The fraternity spread across the nation to the top schools on both coast. By 1941 Chi Psi had become so influential that NBC broadcast our centennial national convention live across America. Chi Psi continues to have a strong national organization that is rich in tradition and ritual.
