philanthropy

Kappa Delta starts off the year with our celebration of National Women’s Friendship Day, a day created by Kappa Delta Sorority to promote friendship among all women. For National Women’s Friendship Day 2007, we hold a raffle with prizes from local businesses and restaurants, donating all proceeds to the Forsyth County Family Services “Safe Relationships” Program for female domestic abuse victims. We continue with participation in the Brian Piccolo “Hit the Bricks” Fundraiser. With more than 35 sisters participating this past year, Kappa Deltas are dedicated to fundraising in the fight against cancer. For our national philanthropy, Girl Scouts of the USA, we host a popular “dorm storm,” leading troop members from dorm to dorm around campus, to sell Girl Scout cookies to support local troops. In the spring, we host “Girl’s Sports Day,” giving troop members and opportunity to play sports with KD sisters and receive valuable advice about becoming involved in athletics. We also host “Mr. Wake Forest,” our Shamrock Project which benefits Prevent Child Abuse America, one of Kappa Delta’s four national philanthropies. This male beauty pageant is a campus-wide event as other organizations sponsor contestants and is always sure to provide a lot of laughs, surprises and great memories!
