The best way to adjust to college life is to have a group of girls who can relate to you, support you, and understand you. The Zeta Omicron Chapter consists of approximately 140 college women who share similar interests and goals, and simply enjoy and appreciate each other's company. We choose to spend the most exciting and important times in our lives with not just our friends, but with our sisters. While bonding through our similarites, we respect and accept our differences, and we become more well-rounded as individuals than we ever were. It's about unity through diversity. It's about being who you are and not who others want you to be. It's knowing that you have 139 other women to laugh with, study with, party with, and cry with.
A strong aspect of sororities is social life. Our chapter has regular date functions and parties, gatherings with other groups on campus, and annual parties that hold high traditions in our group. We have a formal every fall semester, and a semi-formal every spring semester. We also have several sisterhood events, such as watching movies, going out to dinner, playing silly games and scavanger hunts and catching the latest popular TV shows in the lounge.
Kappa Delta has a minimum GPA requirement of 2.4. We constantly rank highly for average GPA among other sororities on campus. We strongly encourage and support each other in academics through academic big sisters, studying together, discussing and giving out tips for studying abroad, and helping out others with the same major and teachers.

National Philanthropy:

Girl Scouts of the U.S.A.
For over 100 years, Kappa Delta has encouraged women, college-age and beyond, to be their best selves...caring individuals, concerned citizens, and community leaders. For almost as long, Girl Scouts has fostered the same ideals in younger girls. Together preparing girls for college, for life, for all they hope to become.

Prevent Child Abuse America

Since 1981, all collegiate chapters and many alumnae associations participate in Kappa Delta's Shamrock Event held annually in March. The groups choose their own fund-raising activities, and 80 percent of the total is donated to local child abuse prevention agencies with the other 20 percent donated to PCA America.

Children's Hospital of Richmond, Virginia
In 1921, Kappa Delta made a commitment to support a 2-bed, fledgling clinic operated by William Tate Graham, M.D. He was renowned for his revolutionary approaches. A pioneer in treating polio victims, he never turned any patient away for inability to pay. Now Children's Hospital treats all children's problems and still turns away no one for financial reasons. Kappa Delta's support continues--donating funds which have gone to build an operating room, develop a clinic, and buy a van to transport patients. The sorority is a primary sustaining supporter of the hospital and Kappa Deltas serve on its governing boards.

American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Research Awards
Three awards of $20,000 are given annually to recognize outstanding research in orthopaedics and to enable researchers to continue their efforts. First presented in 1950, the awards have grown in stature to become known as the Nobel Prize of Orthopaedic Research, and one of the most coveted awards in this field. To date over 1.1 million dollars in awards have been given.

Local Philanthropy:

Mr. Wake Forest
Every year in March, our chapter holds a fun and exciting male beauty pageant, Mr. Wake Forest. Contestants are nominated by other groups on campus and the pageant always attracts a big crowd. All proceeds go to the Kappa Delta National Philanthropy, Prevent Child Abuse America.

War of the Wings
During parent's weekend in the fall, we hold a wing contest between local restaurants before a home football game. We announce the winning restaurant, voted for the best wings, during the half time show. All proceeds go to the Brian Piccolo Cancer Fund. Brian Piccolo played football for Wake Forest and died of cancer shortly after his college career.

There are many leadership posistions offered within the sorority that provides opportunities to gain leadership skills, organizational skills, and in many ways, prepares you for life after Wake. Furthermore, every member of the sorority is involved in at least one extracurricular activity outside of Kappa Delta and many of us hold leadership roles in these campus activities.
