Wake Forest Fencing Club
The Fencing Club strives to provide
an educational and competitive environment for the sport of fencing. Being
one of the lesser-known sports, it is our goal to teach the athletic strategy
involved in the sport to all levels of fencers, from novices to more advanced
fencers. We not only want to instruct others on the sport of fencing, but
also provide a competitive background with which each fencer can represent
Wake Forest. Fencing, like any other sport, instills a sense of sportsmanship
and union among the team members, as well as providing a healthy outlet. This
year, we have about 25 members.
After a hiatus of a year, the fencing club is back on campus and going strong. Our membership is growing and our skills are improving! This year we are hoping to send some members of the club to compete against other clubs. We even hope to host a tournament ourselves sometime in the future. We are still in Reynolds Gym but we have a great new space, so please come and join us!
Our commitment to the university does not end with individual excellence in
the sport of fencing, but extends to our commitment to the Wake Forest reputation.
We hope to promote the Wake Forest name across the fencing circuit, while
experiencing fruitful interactions with people outside of the Wake community.
The best way to promote the Wake Forest reputation is to participate in the
sport with honor and dignity, and a well organized plan. Our plan is to commit
ourselves to excellence.
