Discovering Education through Student Knowledge (D.E.S.K.) is an annual community service project at Wake Forest University that began in 2000. The goal of D.E.S.K. is to provide desks and school supplies for children in the Winston-Salem community who are in need of a place to study and learn in their homes. Each year, teams of Wake Forest student volunteers sign up to paint desks for elementary school children; and, this year, around 55 Old Town Elementary School children will be receiving desks.
The 2015 D.E.S.K. event will be held on the Magnolia Quad of the Wake Forest campus on Tuesday, April 7th from 3:00-7:00 pm.
REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED!
In order to sign up, teams must:
The pre-party will take place on Wednesday, March 25th from 2:30-4:00pm at Old Town Elementary. Each team is required to send one to two team members to the pre-party to meet the child that the team is going to be painting a desk for. Volunteers typically talk to the children about what they would like to be painted on their desk and eat a snack with the children.
