David Alderson ('06) is working in Atlanta as a compliance/Fraud Investigator for Primerica Financial Services. He works in the Office of the General Counsel and deals with compliance and fraud investigations. He is planning on returning to school for his MBA in the fall. |

| Jarrod Atchison (MA '03, BA '01) is the Director of Debate and Asst. Prof at Trinity University in San Antonio TX. He finished his Ph.D. at the Univ. of Georgia this spring and is now Dr. Atchison. He is married to Becca Eaton ('03) who worked as event director at UGa, recently coordinating Carter Presidency conference featured on C-SPAN in January. She is now busy getting their lives settled in Texas. | ||
| Virginia Bannigan was awarded the Forsyth Co. School District's PROMISE (Potential, Responsibility, Optimism, Motivation, Ingenuity, Sensitivity, and Excellence) Award for the elementary school level on April 23, 2007 at River Oak Methodist Church in Clemmons, NC. The award is funded by a grant from the R. J. Reynolds Foundation to honor a first year teacher at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. | ||

Troy Bennett (’51) passed away February 2, 2007 in Raleigh. He attended Hanes High School in Winston-Salem and Wake Forest University and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, both in Wake Forest. He married Marjorie Tripper in 1951, and they went to East Pakistan ( Bangladesh) as missionaries with the Southern Baptists in 1956. Later, they also served in Lebanon, Zambia, Tanzania, and South Africa. He pastored churches in Fayetteville, Kinston, and Winston-Salem. |

| Sandra McCullough Bowen (MA, 2001) married to Jamie, are new parents of Son Drake born November 1, 2006. They make their home in Raleigh NC. She is teaching at Wayne Community College and Johnson Air Force Base in Goldsboro, NC. (see Christmas picture) | ||
| Robert Braxton ('66) wrote a nice note a couple years ago but his message was misplaced. He works providing technical support at Virginia Theological Seminary (Episcopal) beginning 1997 after attending Union Theological Seminary in New York City from 1966 to 1969. He was able about five years later to begin working with computers as a programmer. Bob also worked from 1985 through 1997 providing computer and network support on a contract basis to the submarine directorate of the U.S. Navy. He is married to Beth Carol Pirkle ('66). She has been head pastor of Burke Presbyterian Church, Burke, VA, since 1984 and has a partnership with the Presbyterian Church of East Africa. They are the proud parents of one son Peter J. Braxton of Jeopardy! and "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" fame. | ||

| Samson Enzer ('04) graduated, with honors, from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. At graduation, Sam received the George Shechtman Prize for the highest grade in Contracts and the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association James J. Manderino Award for outstanding performance in trial advocacy. Sam was also recognized for serving as a Senior Editor of the University of Pennsylvania Law Review, a member of the National Trial Team, and a Spring Co-Chair of the Moot Court Board. Following law school, Sam will be clerking for Judge Louis L. Stanton of the Southern District of New York (September of 2007-September of 2009). Sam is currently in Philadelphia studying for the Bar Exam until August, when he and his girlfriend Amanda Parsels will be moving into a new place together, somewhere in Manhattan. | ||

Daveed Gartenstein-Ross ('98) continues to work with his publishing and anti-terrorist work. His new book due out in February is My Year Inside Radical Islam. He was profiled in the International Harold Tribune in Nov. 2006. Link And excerpt from his new book appears in the latest Wake Forest Magazine. In July Daveed was named the vice president of research at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD), a Washington, D.C.-based policy institute dedicated to promoting pluralism, defending democratic values, and fighting the ideologies that drive terrorism. |

| Anjali Garg ('05) is currently the Program Manager at the Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation. In that role she led the selection process and planned the one week leadership program for the new Scholars in May. She is also playing violin in a local orchestra and making the most of her experience in D.C. This fall Anjali is teaching debate to 5th and 6th graders at an inner-city charter school here in D.C. in association with the DC Urban Debate League. | ||

Aaron Harmon (MA '00) completedg his law degree at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. He was the Editor in Chief of the North Carolina Journal of Law & Technology (www.ncjolt.org), and authored "Child Testimony via Two-Way Closed Circuit Television: A New Perspective on Maryland v. Craig in United States v. Turning Bear and United States v. Bordeaux" (7 N.C. J.L. & Tech. 157 (Fall 2005), and "The Methamphetamine Remediation Research Act of 2005: Just What the Doctor Ordered for Cleaning Up Methfields – or Sugar Pill Placebo?" (7 N.C. J.L. & Tech. 421 (Spring 2006). He has also been recognized for donating pro bono legal services to organizations such as the Guardian ad Litem Program of Orange County and The Pro Bono Project in New Orleans. After graduation, Aaron and his wife Danielle return to Portland Oregon, where he is practicing commercial real estate law at Ball Janik LLP, the top real estate firm in Oregon. News Flash: Saturday Sept 15, Aaron has passed the Oregon Bar and is moving forward with lawyering. |

Gordon Bennett Kelley (’50 BS, ’51 JD) passed away on Saturday, July 28, 2007 at Rex Hospital in Raleigh. He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and graduated from Hugh Morson High School in 1945. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Wake Forest College in 1950 and a law degree from Wake Forest College in 1951. After serving in the National Guard, Gordon practiced law in Raleigh for more than 50 years. In 2002, he was honored by the Wake County Bar Association for 50 years of service to the profession. He was a student of history, and loved painting, reading, music, dancing and the theater. He was involved with the Raleigh Little Theatre for many years and played a wide variety of roles in plays, including Dark of the Moon, Sherlock Holmes, Carnival and My Fair Lady. |

James A. “Al” Martin (’37), who had a distinguished academic career before “retiring” to Wake Forest where he taught interdisciplinary undergraduate and graduate courses for 20 years, died in Decatur, Ga, January 24, 2007. He was 89. |

| Joseph William Mauney (’53 BA ’55 JD) 75 passed away January 5, 2007 in Shelby NC. He served in the US Army as a Lieutenant Colonel, and practiced law with the Law Firm of Hamrick, Mauney, Flowers and Martin for over 40 years, and after retirement, remained a senior partner with the law firm. He was a member of Cleveland County Mental Health Board for 12 years, 1979 Trustee for Gardner Webb University, and also served on the General Counsel Lawyer Alumni Association, was past director Wake Law School and served on the alumni Council, president of Shelby Chamber of Commerce, and served as a parliamentarian for Kings Mountain Baptist Association and Baptist State Convention. His debate career was exceptional including two District VI championships, 1st at Ohio State and Florida, Pi Kap Nationals, and twice qualified for the NDT, 1952 & 1953. | ||
| William McGill, ('47) passed away Oct 2nd 2007, in Wilson, NC. Dr. McGill debated at Wake Forest and was part of the s1942 squad that won the Grand Eastern Forensics Tournament in 1942, a squad coached by A. L. Aycock. He received his M.A. degree in English from Vanderbilt University and attended the University of Tennessee, where he was a teaching assistant. He taught at the University of Mississippi and at Tennessee Wesleyan College. He received his Ph.D. in philosophy from Boston University then joined the faculty of Millsaps College in Jackson, MS. He taught 23 years at Atlantic Christian College, now Barton College.. | ||

He is applying in his undergrad education in Art History, working at David Zwirner, a contemporary art gallery in Chelsea. Currently he is with the accounting/finance department. And, of course, gracing the art scene in NY. | ||
| Jeanette Kenner Muir's (MA 83') new book Readings on Political Communication was published by Strata Publishing in May. She is an associate professor of Interdisciplinary and Integrative Studies at George Mason University and current editor of Communication Quarterly. Star Muir ('80) was promoted this last year to Senior Associate Director of Instructional Technology at George Mason University. He plans to return to the classroom in the Communication Department in the following year. | ||

She was the 1998 recipient of the Helen Dutcher Mentoring Award from the American Society for Training and Development, Philadelphia Chapter. | Michael Perry ('02) graduated from Stanford Law School this Spring, and is moving to New York in the fall (where his fiancee, Ashley, will be going to grad school). Mike will be working at Latham & Watkins in New York before starting a clerkship with Judge Allyne Ross in the Eastern District of New York. | ||

| Mike Ridge ('92) was made a full professor last year at the University of Edinburgh and is now the Professor of Moral Philosophy. He is also serving his second year as Head of Department. He is ready to get back to doing philosophy and avoiding departmental politics. Robin (Flaig) Ridge's ('93) job is going well, she and others are publishing the third National Report on Stroke Services in Scotland this September. Their son, Benjamin, was three in April. He is growing up too quickly, they report. | ||
| Sam Norris Smith ('84) earned his Ph.D. from the University of Colorado, Boulder, taught for a stint and is now engaged in consulting and computer design work. His avocation is the music scene. He resides with his wife and terrier in Denver. | ||
