TOURNAMENT LOGISTICS

Logistics – How we cooperate to produce a smooth running tournament

  • Be sure all of your teams and coaches have read this memo.
  • Start rounds on time. The schedule is designed to work. Pairings will have the real start time. Teams and coaches will be given 20 minute and 10 minute pre-round warnings. Judges must leave coaching and go to their rounds 10 minutes prior to start time.
  • Know where things are and how to get there.
    • Have the map of the buildings with you.
    • Main ballot desk and tournament info is in Carswell lobby. Each other building will also have an info/ballot/casebook desk.
    • Ev. and judge shuttles will help moves to distant buildings – just wait on sidewalk by street by your building.
    • Room/building movement plan. In round 3 everyone should be prepared to move. In round 4, those who were aff. in round 3 will stay put, others move. In rounds 5 and 6, lag paired, those with the best records will be in Greene, Carswell, Tribble, Benson (all on Mag Quad) in that order. This will minimize movement for the rest of Sunday. After round 6 we vacate Miller. In round 7, no one is guaranteed not to move. In round 8, those who were aff. in round 7 stay put.
  • Ev. storage Saturday night. With a few exceptions that your building ballot desk can and should tell you, you may leave ev in the room you last debated. However, given the room/building movement plan above, you might be better off moving ev to a different building or keeping it in your vehicle.
  • Parking. Park in any spot that is not “handicap” or specially reserved. Faculty/staff spots are fine.
  • Morning food and drink. Carswell, Tribble, Manchester/Kirby, and Miller will all have set ups of coffee, juice, bagels, and donuts. Sorry, but Greene is too valuable to us and too picky about food and drink to even have it in the lobby
  • Lunch.
    • Saturday you are on your own. Benson has a food court and there is a Subway on the upper quad. Reynolda has all you can eat for $7.00 and is your best for fast AND variety.
    • Sunday lunch will be provided in the Tribble/Benson courtyard.
  • Banquet. Is in Reynolda Hall, not Benson as in past years.
  • Kinkos. Do people still do that or does everyone just use computers and printers now? Anyway, if you need it, from hotel go right to second light (Coliseum). Go right to second light (Reynolda). Go left to first light ( Stratford). At third light make gentle right, staying on Stratford. Cross over Business 40 and Kinkos will be on your right in Thruway shopping center near the Border’s.
