The College Republicans of Wake Forest University seek to help student conservatives become politically active and knowledgeable through discussions, speakers, socials, conventions, and volunteering.

What's New? Our website is currently undergoing massive retooling. For up to date information regarding CR activities and events on campus check out our group page on Groupvine.

GOT SOMETHING ON YOUR MIND?: This year WFU’s CRs plan to start up a conservative blog for WFU students. If you are interested in contributing please send your contact info and ideas here.

> EXCITING VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY!

Virginia Foxx is a wonderful Republican U.S. Senator from Winston-Salem running for re-election this year!  She is looking for ALOT of help currently and in the next couple of weeks with her campaign.  If anyone would be interested in helping her, there will be a running phone bank from now until the election.  They will be open Monday through Saturday from 9am until 9pm everyday and desperately need help making phone calls, knocking on doors, delivering signs, etc.  If you are at all interested, please e-mail me back (fitzjp5@wfu.edu) and I can give you directions and more information!  This work is not only rewarding in getting a wonderful Republican elected, but it will help greatly with your resume, and will help with contacts in Washington for any future internships!  Please consider doing this! Thanks!

UPCOMING EVENTS

Ø          This Thursday, October 26, the College Republicans will be sponsoring a horseshoe toss for local children at the annual Project Pumpkin event on the WFU campus. This is a fun and easy way to get some volunteer hours, meet fellow CR’s and do the Winston-Salem community a great service. Contact Bryan Keith at (keitbd4@wfu.edu) if you’d like to participate. The event will run from 1-6 PM.

Ø          Tuesday, November 7 is Election Day, and the College Republicans will be eagerly awaiting the returns. We will be hosting a returns get-together at 9 PM at a location TBA.

> “Candles on the Quad”

> This September 11 marked the 5th anniversary of the attacks in New York, Washington DC and Pennsylvania. In memory of the victims of these attacks, the College Republicans sponsored the 2nd Annual “Candles on the Quad,” a non-partisan candlelight vigil on the Quad immediately following services in Wait Chapel. The event drew hundreds of participants and raised over $500 for the American Red Cross. [photo from Wake Forest News Service]
