FAQ
I would like to volunteer on (whatever) day to cook or deliver. Is the time slot available?
Yes. For Fall 2007 we will start with an open-door policy. You can show up to our shifts without prior reservation. We would love for you to shoot us an e-mail and tell us you’re coming, but you’re not required to. If 7pm Wednesday night rolls around and you don’t have anything to do, just come and join us!
What do I wear?
Long pants, closed-toe shoes. No tank-tops / sleeveless shirts. No jewelry, watches, bracelets. Long hair up in a bun or short ponytail. :o)
Can I bring a friend?
Of course! Bring two! The more the merrier!
Do I need to have any type of training beforehand?
Currently you are trained at your first shift. We may have to add "training shifts" later, but we haven't done that yet.
Could you please tell me where it is located?
We use the kitchen in the food-court of the Information Systems building. We also use the SIDE door to enter, since it is closed for our cooking shifts. This is the building you went visited to pick up you laptop. The best way to see where it is: visit our map page: http://ckwfu.org/map.htm
Can I sign up for just one time? Can I sign up for a weekly shift?
Yes. And yes. Here’s the deal: Come out and see if you like the CK. If you want to come every week you can. But it’s not required. No obligation. If you tell us that you want to have a regular shift, we will add you to the schedule and send you an e-mail reminder of the shift every week. You will also get priority over those who show up if we are over-booked. But you are also welcome to come sporadically.
I don’t know about your program. What are the details?
If you like any of the following: cooking, helping people, not wasting food, hanging out with friends, or being part of a greater good, the Campus Kitchen is for you. We prepare meals and deliver them to the nearby community. Anyone can help. If you know how to cook you can teach others - if you don't then we'll teach you! If you have a car, great! If not then just ride with us.
How do I get my group involved with the Campus Kitchen?
Please e-mail us and tell us how many people you have, and what shifts work with your schedule. We will reserve a day for you so everyone has something to do and you can work as a team. If you are ready to sign up for potential days, visit our group sign up page.
