Get excited for KidsFest 2009!

Please join the fun at Wake Forest University Saturday, March 21, 2009, for KidsFest 2009.

In case you missed it last year, KidsFest 2008 was the third on-campus celebration for local special needs children, and KidsFest provided a chance for hundreds of Wake Forest University student-volunteers to interact with over 800 handicapped children and their family members throughout a number of age- and ability-appropriate events such as face painting, lawn bowling, basketball throwing, pie-throwing, etc.

This year, KidsFest 2009 will again host hundreds of special needs children and their families on Manchester Plaza.

Here is a map that details how to enter campus, where to drop off your family members, and where to park for KidsFest.

Here is the parking pass for all vehicles that will be parked at WFU during KidsFest.  Please place it on your vehicle’s dashboard.

If any other families with special needs children (that do not attend the Special Children’s School or the Children’s Center) are interested in KidsFest they need to e-mail garaam5@wfu.edu to acquire directions and further information.

How can you help as a WFU student?

Wake Forest University expects over 1,000 guests for the KidsFest 2009 celebration. Therefore, we need energetic Wake Forest students to participate with KidsFest before and during the campus wide event. Please learn more about KidsFest by using this website and get involved by helping out on a committee and volunteering for the event on Saturday, April 12, 2008.

About KidsFest 2006:
How did KidsFest begin? Semester after semester, Wake Forest students have volunteered with local special needs children at both The Children’s Center for the Physically Disabled and The Special Children’s School. During spring 2006, three strong WFU service organizations—HOPE, VSC, and DAC—teamed together and opened the Wake Forest University campus for these special needs children, their families, and school staff in a very unique way.
