Mission Statement
Friends of GSSA
Founded Fall 1999

Friends of GSSA is a faculty, staff, alumni and friends group at Wake Forest University designed to support the Gay-Straight Student Alliance and other groups which seek to promote open discussion on themes of sexual orientation and equality at Wake Forest. More broadly, the Friends of GSSA will seek to promote education on these themes and to promote a sense of community among faculty, staff, alumni and friends who support these goals.

Specific mission components will include:

1. Attraction and provision of financial resources for GSSA and related project
2. Provision of personal time and support for GSSA members and other gay, lesbian and supportive students
3. Promotion of academic and cultural events on themes of sexual orientation and equality
4. Promotion of social contact among concerned faculty, staff, alumni and friends

The group seeks broad participation and active commitment to making Wake Forest University a gay-friendly community.
