Meeting started at 4:03

Item 1: Minutes of the February 28th meeting, 4:03 pm

Introduced by Susan Borwick.

Susan Borwick inquired if anyone had changes to the February 28th meeting minutes and seeing no opposition determined through common consent the minutes from the last CIT were approved.

Item 2: CIT’s acceptance of the T420s standard load 2011-2012, 4:05 pm

Introduced by Susan Borwick

Susan Borwick stated all responses for the T420s were positive although not everyone responded. Susan Borwick asked if there is any objection and found none. The T series is all certified UL Gold so the T420s will still be the first with this award. It was suggested that the CIT announcement be in the Provost’s newsletter.

Item 3: CIT grants subcommittee, 4:09 pm

Introduced by Susan Borwick and passed to Allin Cottrell

Allin Cottrell shared that the subcommittee would meet the next day and Susan Borwick asked Allin to send the results by e-mail to the CIT when finished.

Item 4: Bylaws, 4:11 pm

Introduced by Susan Borwick

The CIT reviewed proposed revisions regarding the membership of the CIT in the College Bylaws.  Jon Christman stated that other tweakings were suggested by ITEC.  He and Susan decided to get together later to work out a final refined version.

Item 5: Final Sakai policy report, 4:26 pm

Introduced by Susan Borwick

Jolie Tingen provided Sakai policies for the CIT’s review.  Allin Cottrell raised a question about archiving and Jolie Tingen answered that one should call the Service Desk or copy from a site into “My Workplace.” CIT members shared that at EDUCAUSE conferences other schools were amazed and could not believe how well the transition from Blackboard went. CIT members shared that the Sakai planning committee was outstanding in their dedication above and beyond their resources. Having a long pilot was stated as another reason for the good transition. Susan Borwick will write to Jacque Fetrow and Lynn Sutton that there are no suggestions for changes and the implementation team has been extraordinary.

Item 6: iTunesU recommendation from implementation team

Introduced by Susan Borwick and passed to Susan Smith

Susan Smith shared any user with an iTunes account will be able to check out the iTunesU page for Wake Forest.  The ad hoc iTunesU implementation committee’s recommendation proposed a pilot program from Summer 2011 through Fall 2011, with possible implementation campuswide in Spring 2012.

CIT gives approval to explore iTunesU, as described in the recommendation.

Next meeting will be April 18, 2011
End: 5:06 pm
