CIT Notes 10/20/03

Attendees: Bob Swofford, Jay Dominick, Susan Smith, Terry Blumenthal, Kurt Shaw, Ralph Kennedy, Bryan Locco, Richard King, Wayland Caldwell

It has been a relatively quiet three weeks on campus. No new agenda items were proposed.

Jay briefly reviewed the wireless/infrastructure upgrades planned. He also mentioned that there have been more than the usual number of network outages recently, and he blamed this for the most part on our aging network hardware and software (that is no longer supported by Enterasys).

1) Law student brought in a new non-WFU machine and hooked it up. Had DHCP server running giving out bogus addresses, which seriously confused the primary network traffic management software.

2) Someone plugged in a wireless "bridge" somewhere.

RIAA complaints are down significantly since last year (possibly because we are shutting down the outgoing sharing on the P2P clients).

There being no other business, the meeting was adjourned at 4:30pm
